This is a detached modern 1980s house, designed under architecture, with roof sections oriented exactly to the wind directions. The largest roof plane, on the east side, is largely shaded by trees. The south, west, and north sides are smaller, but thanks to the lower roof pitches, they still offer favourable sun positions. This allows significant energy generation, spread throughout the day. This not only contributes to higher own consumption, but also relieves the grid operator’s electricity grid.
The seemingly less-than-ideal location of the property shows that excellent returns can be achieved even in such conditions.
As a complement, three BIPV canopies were constructed by Hermans Technisolar: two custom-made solar carports and one canopy in the back garden. These subtly refer to the occupants’ labour history as sustainable entrepreneurs in greenhouse farming. The installation was carried out by Solar Crew from Eersel, while Sijbers Bouw- en Timmerbedrijf from Kronenberg took care of the roof renovation.
