Iconic Roof Design
At the beginning of the last century, neighborhoods with charming houses were built, featuring distinctive characteristics such as bay windows, steep roof shapes, large eaves, narrow and tall window frames, terra cotta roof tiles and beautiful brickwork. While these stylish homes are full of character, they are highly energy-inefficient. And when an old house is in poor condition, it’s better to tear it down and replace it with a modern new build.
This presents a challenge for architects: designing a new home that doesn’t compromise the street’s aesthetic. In 2022, project developer Livingstone completed a project in the suburbs of Haarlem, where a curved roof was fitted with Nelskamp G-10 tiles. Between these tiles, nearly 11 kWp of Mystiek solar roof tiles were seamlessly integrated, blending sustainability with timeless design.
