A Farewell to Ger Zetsen
Colleague, Steady Hand, and In-House Ambassador
Some colleagues are such a natural part of the team that it’s hard to imagine the workplace without them. Ger Zetsen was one of those people. Ger has now officially said goodbye to Solinso and started his well-deserved retirement. The moment may no longer be fresh off the press – but that doesn’t make our appreciation any less heartfelt. On the contrary: it gives us a quiet moment to truly reflect on who Ger was to all of us.
From Chaos to Structure
When Ger joined Solinso in 2018, our team consisted of… two people. And our warehouse? Mostly piles of stuff. That changed quickly. In no time, shelves were up, everything was labelled, and chaos made way for order. Suddenly, we had a warehouse even IKEA might envy.
Structure. Clarity. Calm. That’s what Ger brought us. But not only that.
More than a Colleague
Ger was also our in-house ambassador. Not by title, but by action. He believed in our product and sold several Mystiek solar roofs to friends and family. Birthday parties quickly turned into sales opportunities – or maybe the other way around.
But more importantly, Ger brought something you can’t box up or capture in a spreadsheet: warmth. Connection. Humor. And genuine dedication.
The Man behind the Job
Anyone who knows Ger knows he’s a true family man. Four children, more than ten grandchildren, a 95-year-old mother – and still time for work, carnival, table tennis, Bospop music festival, and his beloved “renfiets” (literally: running bike). Because when Ger cycles, he means business.
One of our fondest memories as a team was during the COVID era. Our annual Christmas dinner was cancelled – all restaurants were closed. But there was Ger, offering immediately: “Just come to my garden room.” So there we were, around a self-organized Chinese buffet, in Ger’s cozy sunroom. Warm, relaxed, and unforgettable.
Thank you, Ger
We’re going to miss you. Not because the warehouse will fall into chaos again (let’s hope not!), but because your calm, precision, and down-to-earth presence were irreplaceable. You never had to be the loudest in the room – but when you spoke, everyone listened.
Thank you for everything, Ger. For your hard work, your kindness, and most of all: for being you.
Enjoy your retirement – your family, the celebrations, the miles on your “renfiets”… and hopefully, a little bit of well-earned nothingness now and then.
To you, Ger!
