A Milestone Worth Celebrating

A Decade Solinso

In 2015, a bold, decade-old idea became a reality: the quest for beautiful solar power. Now, in 2025, Solinso is proud to celebrate 10 years of bringing that vision into life. Although it all started back in 2004 with the original idea, Solinso was officially registered with the Chamber of Commerce in 2015. The idea originated with Paul and Bart, who developed the very first Solinso Solar Roof Tile.

Solinso Project EPE

From Design to Solution

The Solinso company was established by Paul and Bart, both experienced engineers passionate about renewable energy. They envisioned a solar solution that would generate power while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of rooftops.

Frustrated by the visual disruption that traditional solar panels create, they set out to create a building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system that would blend seamlessly with roof tiles. After years of design, research, and testing, the result was the Mystiek: a solar roof tile that offers both high performance and architectural beauty.

Mile stones for Solinso

In 2015, Solinso was officially registered and launched its first product line: “Mystiek.” The first installations demonstrated that the technology worked not only in laboratory conditions but also on real rooftops. In 2018, the company received CE certification, which confirmed its safety and reliability. A year later, Solinso introduced multiple coating colors and expanded compatibility with various rooftiles, providing more options to the market. By 2020, the company had developed its installer network and began delivering projects outside the Netherlands. Today, Solinso continues to innovate with a strong focus on aesthetics, performance, and sustainability, having completed over 1,500 solar-integrated roofs across Europe.

How Solinso made a difference

Solinso challenged the status quo in solar energy by proving that sustainability and aesthetics do not have to be at odds. While many solutions focused solely on efficiency, Solinso took a different approach, one where design, integration, and architectural harmony are equally important. By working closely with roof tile manufacturers, installers, and architects, Solinso developed a product that fits naturally into the roofline, respecting the original character of the building. This unique approach not only helped homeowners embrace solar energy without compromise but also inspired a shift in the way the construction industry thinks about integrating renewable technology into design.

Team-Solinso

The people behind Solinso

Solinso runs on a small, close-knit team committed to quality and innovation every day. In production, a permanent group of professionals work on each solar roof tile with care and precision. There is also movement in the rest of the team: since last year, Solinso has employed a permanent marketing specialist for the first time, and our R&D colleague left for a new challenge. We also said goodbye to two valued colleagues – Ger and Geert – who retired on a well-deserved retirement after years of commitment, Ger only recently. Read it here.

A lot changes, but some things remain: the shared dedication, the drive to innovate, and the passion to make sustainable technology that really makes a difference.

Looking ahead

We are already working hard to develop solar roof tiles that are compatible with an even wider range of roofing systems. Since wave-shaped roof tiles are so commonly used on roofs in Europe, we are actively working on a solution that integrates seamlessly with them. In addition, we are developing a completely new product, which we will announce at the appropriate time.

As we enter our second decade of Solinso, our mission remains clear:

to empower a sustainable future
one roof at a time

To everyone who’s been part of the journey

Thank you!

Here’s to the next ten.

BIPV Certification
